228 Million Eggs Recalled!
An Iowa egg producer is recalling 228 million eggs after being linked to an outbreak of salmonella poisoning.
The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said eggs from Wright County Egg in Galt, Iowa, were linked to several illnesses in Colorado, California and Minnesota.
The eggs were distributed around the country and packaged under the names Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph's, Boomsma's, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemps. Eggs with package dates May 16-Aug13th and product codes: P-1026, P-1413, and P-1946 have the potential to be contaminated.

Tipster Tuesday: Pay your bills online!
Paying my bills online is one way I save money and simplified my finances. I find it so easy and convenient to pay my bills online from the comfort of my home. I pay 12 bills a month online which saves me $5.28 on stamps. That is a savings of $63 a year! May not sound like a large amount, but every little bit adds up. I know I can find a lot more things to spend that $63 on other than stamps. Most utility, electric, phone, mortgage, and cable companies allow online bill paying. Here is the advantages of paying your bills online:
- Saves time- You don’t have to waste time writing checks, stuffing envelopes, or driving to the post office.
- Payment scheduling- You will be able to ensure your payment is made on time because you schedule your payment when you choose. This helps avoid any late fees or late payments that could affect your credit score. Many companies offer a bill reminder feature which automatically sends you an e-mail notifying you of an upcoming bill due date.
- Convenience- No need to load the kids in the car and run to the post office. You will be able to stay home in your pajamas and pay your bills whenever it is most convenient for you. Perhaps while enjoying your morning cup of coffee, naptime, etc.
- Budget oriented- You can easily access your accounts and review your balances, payments, and history. Online bill paying allows you to save money on postage, envelopes, checks and gas.
- Environment friendly- By reducing your paper checks and paper bills, you will reduce the amount of clutter and paper waste you have in your home.
- Make sure the Website is secure. Login to your account by entering your user id and password. Notice that the lettering in the URL address will change from "http" to "https." The "s" stands for "secure" and lets you know that the site is indeed secure. You may also find a “VeriSign Trusted” seal or padlock somewhere on the website.
- Create strong passwords of at least 8 characters that combine letters, numbers, and symbols. Use a different password for each account and change your passwords frequently. NEVER select the option to automatically save your password and login information!
- Secure your PC with security software such as Norton and keep the software updated.
- Sign up with a credit-reporting agency such as Equifax to review your credit history and receive alerts when unusual activity occurs on your credit.

Tipster Tuesday: Giveaways
If you have been following my blog, then you know how much I LOVE getting FREE stuff! Blog giveaways are a fun and easy way to do just that. I personally have won everything from coupons to recently a $70 CSN gift card by entering giveaways! Even though I'm on a tight budget, I can still enjoy things by winning them! =) Plus it's a great way to learn about products and read what others think about them. Here are some tips to help increase your chances of winning a blog giveaway:
- Read the giveaway post carefully. The details of the giveaway along with specific entry requirements and rules will be found in the giveaway post.
- Follow entry directions. If the blogger asks you to visit a website, find your favorite item, and leave a comment telling them what it is and the person comments "I love giveaways!" They will be disqualified, because they didn’t follow the rules.
- Enter on the giveaway post. Be sure to comment on the actual giveaway post. Most bloggers do not accept comments on Facebook or Twitter.
- Always take advantage of extra entries. Many bloggers will give you chances for extra entries. You usually have to enter a separate comment for each entry. Example: Entry #1 "Like" on Facebook, Entry #2 I'm an email subscriber, etc. Get as many extra entries as you can. You can increase your odds of winning greatly!
- Look for low entry giveaways. You are more likely to win if you find a blog that is new to giveaways or a giveaway with 100 or less entries. The lower number of entries, the higher your chances of winning!
- Leave your contact information. Make sure you leave a valid email address with every entry you submit. The email address is the only way a blogger has to contact you. - Enter consistently. The more blog giveaways you enter, the better your chances of winning. Keep at it and the wins should start coming your way!

Menu Plan Monday 7/26
We had some unexpected expenses over the past few weeks. By menu planning and working through our stockpile, I've been able to stay within our weekly budget. With that being said, my stockpile is looking bare and it's time to head to the grocery store...with coupons in hand of course! =) So here's what our menu plan looks like this week:
Monday- Chicken and Dumplings, Veggies
Tuesday- Turkey Burgers
Wednesday- Kraut and Weiners, Fried potatoes, Pinto beans, and Corn Bread
Friday- Leftover Mac and Cheddar Cheese with Chicken and Broccoli

Perdue Farms has issued a voluntary recall for the Walmart Great Value Brand chicken nuggets. Select varieties are being recalled because there is a potential that a small number of nuggets may contain pieces of plastic.
